Ibiza Sotheby’s International Realty are marking the advent of a new Ibiza with the 2018 Ibiza Sotheby’s International Realty Golf Tournament, which will celebrate the fabulous golf offering of the island.

This follows the 2018 Rafa Nadal Golf Challenge in February which saw a number of Sotheby’s International Realty affiliates compete across an assortment of golf courses in Mallorca.

The tournament is taking place on 16 June at Golf Ibiza by azuLine Hotels and will see a number of competitors participate in the friendly contest. A team from Ibiza Sotheby’s International Realty, including Barbara Caprara, Director of Sotheby’s International Realty at the stunning course, set at the heart of the Ibizan countryside.

Ibiza’s golf offering had been limited until recently, however the small island now boasts the renovated 18-hole course at Golf Ibiza. The refurbishment involved the renovation of the existing course and now offers one remarkable 18-hole course and one 9-hole course, as well as a stylish restaurant at the 19th hole, and a lounge space. The gated residential area which surrounds the course, Roca Llisa, has subsequently experienced a spike in popularity. Luxury properties situated within this highly desirable community are projected to significantly appreciate in value in the coming years.

The appeal of Ibiza as a holiday destination has experienced a rapid change in the past ten years. The popularity of the island amongst HNWIs and families has sharply increased, with those attracted to the island for its natural beauty, accessibility and five star amenities.

In response to this growth in interest the property market has boomed, particularly at the higher end, with British buyers representing the highest proportion of non-Spanish buyers on the island. Property prices on the island within the luxury market have increased by 5% since the beginning of this year due to high demand and low stock of quality properties. This increase in demonstrated in statistics which show the average price per square metre for luxury properties to be 5,155 EUR, and 3,000 EUR for non-luxury homes, in comparison to just 1,200 EUR in mainland Spain.

Ibiza’s diverse offering of mountainous landscapes, scenic beaches, heritage and culture is now complimented by world class golf facilities. This appetite for variety is what is driving the Balearic Islands to become a world leader as a golf destination. The popularity of the Balearic Islands as a destination for golf was reflected in the Rafa Nadal Golf Challenge, hosted by Mallorca Sotheby’s International Realty in February 2018. The tournament saw a selection of Sotheby’s International Realty affiliates from across the globe compete with Rafa Nadal to showcase the excellence of the Mallorcan golf offering.

Paul Kempe, owner of Balearic Sotheby’s International Realty, comments: “Our tournament at Golf Ibiza consistently offers us a chance to showcase the golf offering of Ibiza onto the global stage.  The attraction of the island as a holiday destination is so diverse and appeals to people of all ages, from across the world. We hope to increasingly welcome golfers to enjoy the splendour of this fantastic course.”

Jose Antonio Cachon, at Golf Ibiza comments: “We are excited to welcome the Ibiza Sotheby’s International Realty team to compete at the course once again. It is always a pleasure to host them and to showcase the beauty of our course and newly refurbished resort to the global brand.”
